Mission

Advance the state of semi autonomous robotics, AI assisted engineering, digital engineering, and digital twin technologies through innovative research, rapid technology maturation, and practical solutions that enhance human machine teaming, engineering productivity, and mission effectiveness.

Our Story

Bridge innovation and engineering execution.

Velez Advanced Systems was founded from a concern observed across modern engineering organizations: as advanced tools, automation, digital engineering platforms, and AI capabilities become more common, teams can lose sight of the foundational engineering principles that make those tools effective.

Too often, organizations adopt new technologies without the engineering discipline, architecture, requirements rigor, verification strategies, configuration management, and lifecycle thinking needed to make them scalable and maintainable. The result is disconnected data, fragile processes, inconsistent engineering practices, costly rework, and growing technical debt.

VAS was created to bring engineering discipline back to advanced technology development. The goal is not to pursue technology for its own sake, but to apply it with structure, purpose, and repeatable engineering methods that produce reliable, measurable results.

At its core, VAS exists to bridge the gap between innovation and engineering execution. We believe the future belongs to organizations that combine human expertise, sound engineering judgment, and advanced technologies within a disciplined engineering framework.

Challenges We Solve

Complexity is increasing faster than engineering organizations can absorb it.

VAS focuses on technologies that reduce technical friction rather than creating another disconnected layer.

System Complexity

Increasing dependencies, interfaces, and mission demands require stronger architecture, model based reasoning, and disciplined integration.

Disconnected Engineering Data

Digital threads, semantic integration, knowledge graphs, and model based approaches help reconnect fragmented engineering evidence.

Technology Without Rigor

AI and automation must be bounded by requirements, verification, traceability, configuration control, and human accountability.

Lifecycle Sustainment

VAS emphasizes maintainability, verifiability, interoperability, and long term engineering value rather than short lived demonstrations.

Founder

Frank Velez, Founder & Chief Engineer

Nearly three decades of engineering and technical leadership across complex systems, digital engineering, systems integration, and advanced technology.

Francisco “Frank” Velez is the Founder and Chief Engineer of Velez Advanced Systems. The vision for VAS grew from his observation that, while engineering tools have advanced dramatically, many organizations have drifted away from the engineering discipline required to use them effectively. He believes technology should amplify sound engineering and not replace it.

His experience includes architecture, development, integration, verification, and deployment of complex mission critical systems supporting defense, aerospace, enterprise digital transformation, and advanced technology initiatives. His work has consistently focused on improving engineering productivity, reducing lifecycle costs, strengthening engineering rigor, and enabling organizations to develop more capable and resilient systems.

He holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer & Electrical Engineering and a Master of Science in Interdisciplinary Telecommunications from the University of Colorado Boulder. His technical expertise spans systems engineering, software engineering, computer engineering, enterprise architecture, Model Based Systems Engineering, digital engineering, artificial intelligence, digital twins, requirements management, verification and validation, systems integration, and engineering strategy.

Today, his research focuses on semi autonomous robotics, human machine teaming, AI assisted engineering, digital twins, intelligent automation, and next generation engineering environments that improve engineering productivity and mission effectiveness.
